So yesterday, I was asked by my folks about about Windows 10. The whole installation and how I got it and everything.
Basically what you do is you click the icon in the taskbar and say Get Windows 10 then click Notify, given you'd reserved your copy already. After that, you can usually go into Windows Updates to see if it's ready to install. If you check the past updates and it says the upgrade failed, here's what you do:
1. Browse to "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete the contents of the folder.
2. Press Windows key + X > Click Command Prompt ( open it as Admin) then type "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" without the quotations.
3. Open Control Panel > Windows Update and Windows 10 should begin downloading..
After it downloads, restart as normal and let the install do it's thing. It'll take an hour or so depending on how new and fast the PC is, I think. My PC is 10+ years old and it took me probably an hour and a half. So grab yourself a good book or coffee and a cookie and relax during. Once it's finished, your good to go!
Not everyone will get the upgrade at first, since Microsoft is releasing it as a "staged roll out" this time around. You can read more about it here: blogs.windows.com/bloggingwind…
Hope this helps!
